srsly shoot me an email if you find a good place
it sounds like we're in very similar situations--I'll be looking for a 12mo lease starting next august.
I have a friend living downtown in the Beauvallon, and he seems to like it. I don't know that much about it, though. I lived in the Riverfront area for a few months, and don't think I would go back (insane $ for the quality).

I'm on cherry creek dr south near the bull and bush and I love it.
Its actually glendale, but only an 1/8th of a mile east of colorado blvd. Its the sonata at cherry creek, and its a quiet and nice complex thats only a 1 minute walk from the legendary Bull and Bush Pub.

DON'T rent at 1600 Glenarm if you value your Denali...
I have 3 buddies that live there and the valet-only parking is BS. They've ****ed up my friends' Range Sport Supercharged, G55 AMG, Cayanne S and Range 4.6 HSE in the last year.
I would see if anyone is renting out condos at the Glass House, that place is gangster. If it were me I'd be looking in that area, West side of downtown.
There are also some sick lofts near my house just over the 15th street bridge.
Call me up when you get back and I'll help you look, I've discovered some fantastic places in the last few months.

1600 Glenarm is the most overpriced place in Denver right now
I've seen 2BRs in that building listed at $2700/mo, and it simply isn't that nice. A 1BR can be $1800++, and is worse quality than a 1BR I rented for $1400 in the most expensive neighborhood in Chicago.
Glass House is swank, but the handful of times I've been there the common areas seemed like a frat party full of trust funders.
