Anybody planning on going to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year?
A friend and I are planning on going. This year they're allowing camping on the mountain and it's $100 "for a car load". We're thinking of doing that, but we're looking to see if we could recruit at least two other people for our "car load" which would make the price cheaper for everyone. I have a large family size tent that can easily fit 4-6 adults with no problem, although neither of us has a vehicle that would comfortably fit 4, plus camping gear. I figure we could meet somewhere in the springs, pile into one car, and head up the mountain.
The actual race is Saturday, July 1, so we would be camping on the mountain on Friday, June 30. You also need to purchase a ticket ($35) to the race in order to camp over night, so please keep that in mind.
The past couple of years we were up the mountain, parked and waiting for the race to start by 5-6 a.m. But the race doesn't start until 9 a.m. So, camping on the mountain sounds like a good idea for those of us who like to sleep later.
Anyway, if interested, let me know.
