Car choices...
The requirements:
#1 Gotta be able to fit a forward facing car seat in the back seat. Although a 4 door would be nice, it isn't a necessity.
#2 Gotta have at least 250-300 hp
#3 Gotta have HID headlights
#4 Gotta withstand the pounding I dish out on the track
#5 Have it's major depreciation over with
Some cars that I've been thinking about...
Porsche 996
BMW E46 M3
BMW E36 M3 sedan
Volkswagen R32 (Gen 4)
Porsche 930
Discuss.
Mitsu Evo 9 MR

My vote
1. E46 M3 first (with snow tires of course) - big back seat, fold down rear seats, and fun to drive
2. 996 - is this a C2, C4 or TT - fun to drive, trackable for sure, and can fit kids
3. VW R32 - great motor but lacking in other areas it seems
4. E36 M3 - great car but if you can get into the 46...
5. 930 - maintenance, horrendous in any type of moisture, did I say maintenance

Re: My vote
1. E46 - too heavy for the track
2. 996 you'll wish you had a 993 or a 997
3. R32 - maybe
4. e36 - cheap enough that you could spend some money to make up the deficiencies of age if yo can find a good example
5. 930 - what he said!
6. EVO/WRX - worth considering
7. Two cars - daily driver and a track car (go kart)
IMHO you've got conflicting goals. You want a fast stylish daily driver that can get you through denver's traffic, carry your family and not get bogged down in snow. In hardly any way is this the same thing that you need on the track. For the track you need a safe, reliable car that will have enough LESS horsepower that you'll learn to drive the lines well, and quit relying on massive power. How about a used Benz and a Miata?

Yes, I know.
But I don't really go to the track enough to justify having a track only car. I also don't really have anywhere to store it, nor do I have a truck and trailer to tow it to the track.
Besides, I *like* having massive power!
