I-25 memorial day weekend warning.....
This came from an exec at my Company:
Just a heads-up, I was in a meeting yesterday that included some Colorado State Patrol Troopers. They told me that every trooper regardless of rank will be working between May 26 and May 29. They said the area of highest concentration will be I-25 between Harmony Road (Fort Collins) and Longmont (the expectation is that you will see an average of one patrol car per mile). The Troopers will be stopping people for the slightest infraction because they need to check for drinking.
They also mentioned that a new law went into affect in January that I had not heard about but that they are stopping people for - if a patrol car is stopped on the shoulder, you are to move over a lane if you can and if you can't you are to slow down by at least 5mph. For example, if a patrol car is on the right shoulder and you are in the right lane - as you should be - you are to move over one lane left or slowdown. They said so far they are just stopping people to educate them about this new law, not writing tickets.
So, stay right except when passing a patrol car and use your blinkers to change lanes.
