Default New Carputer enhancements for those interested..

I finally got off my @ss and started doing some more work on the carputer. Up until now all it really was is a glorified MP3/DVD player. Over the past couple weeks I added a customeized GPS program (which as far as I know is the only one of its kind that is entirely touch screen interactive and runs on Windows without any sort of emulator running in the back ground). I thank my friend Jesse for his amazing programimg skills and actually making the thing work.

In addition I finally broke down and replaced my VAG-COM cable that I ran over a couple years back. I made a few slight modifications to the cable and hardwired into the car and the computer. Nothing too speacial here other than the novelty of having a VAG that is touch screen in the dash. I hope to get APR's ECUX running on it soon so I can do some logging and what not.

The last thing I have yet to work on is an anolog to digital processor that will convert realtime boost, air/fuel, oil pres., etc to a nice on screen digital display. Again I am relying on my good buddy Jesse to work some magic there.

Here are a few shots sorry for the poor picture qaulity.

Default Yes if I were to run a cellular internet service like Ricochet or ....

if I am close enough to a WiFi hotspot like a starbucks or even some RTD busses. To be honest surfing the internet on the thing is just not very realistic. However should the need arise I'm sure I could drive into most any neighborhood these days and find someones wireless network that is not secured and get on that way.

Default fyi, ecux has a graphical realtime display for all those functions

has digital gauges for pretty much anything you want to see.

Default Really! well shoot I need to get that ASAP. However I'm curious...

I thought with ECUX using the standard OBDII interface that boost readings and what not are only sampled rates and not very acurate? It would probably be ok if I were only scanning one thing at a time but if i started trying to scan for mutilple readings I would think the lag time between each cycle would return some inacurate data. If that makes sense.

Default that's actually the main advantage of ECUx over VAG-COM

Even with the OBDII interface, the sample rate is much quicker. With VAG-COM, it's difficult to log an accurate reading with 1 variable, yet I've logged over 10 on ECU-X with it being incredibly accurate.

I'm just using the USB VAG cable too.

Where did you get that surround? That's an awesome installation, I would love that on the road!
