Default Why so much price difference between the Indy's and the dealers........

Took the car in for a check up regarding an oil leak, 3zero3 quoted me $1,400 to fix the leak, upper oil pan. Werner's quoted me a little more, haven't had time to call Randy yet.

Now, when I called the dealers to get quotes, McD, Stammler, Prestige, Phil Long are all $150 to $300 cheaper for parts and labor. Even without the ACNA discount. I know we all beat up on the dealers, but man that's a big price difference. I have a quote from McD and Prestige to do the upper oil pan, TB service, alignment, and cam seals for $3,200 parts and labor. I didn't get a price for the same work from 3zero3, but I did from Werners and it's $400 more. The dealers are also building a loaner into that price.

No, I haven't decided on who will do the work, it's going to be based on time and money as the car won't be going in for the work until probably late May or early June.

I think you should have it done by McD's. They're the cheapest.

Default to answer why the price difference, have each of them break it down

how are they calculating their estimates? should be pretty obvious once you understand what you're paying for parts, hourly labor and the overall time estimate for the work.

i stopped bringing my A4 to the dealer for work right after my warranty was up. Since i moved to colorado, my A4 has only been to Autobahn and that's the only place I will take it. I've built a good relationship with Todd and Randy and I trust them and their work. I've always thought their parts and labor charges are reasonable. Even if they charged more than the dealer, I'd still bring my A4 to them because I know they will do the work right. Also, if for any reason, there is an issue with any work they've done, I know they will make it right. You can't put a price on that. I'd much rather have that kind of relationship then have to deal with AoA and the bureaucracy of filing claims, wondering if you'll be reimbursed, etc...

BTW, Randy, if you are reading this, this doesn't mean you can start charging me more for labor! ;-)

anyways, my 2 cents.

Default I personally don't think that a little dripping oil is worth 1,000+ bucks....

especially on a $7000 car

and in the right we have R2.7TA6 dubbed "racist trucker" weighing in at 210 fighting for the Southern Confederates. Folks this should be a clean fight with no back slapping, **** punching, or smack talking about each other moma's. "Lets get in on!!"

Default I don't understand how some people can part with their cash for labor costs.

Those prices are absolutely ridiculous. I think you lose man-points as well.

Default some people dont have the time/space/tools/knowledge to work on their car.

I have to pay labor rates because I live in a condo with an HOA that wont allow you to even change the oil in the larking lot.
