Default 2nd DRC leak...200 miles after replacement

I had my front shocks replaced no more than 200 miles/3 weeks ago, and for the love of the sport I decided to see how the new ones are holding up. Well, as the picture illustrates, it is not pretty. This is front driver's side, passenger for now seems dry, but we are talking less than 200 miles on the clock since I had both fronts replaced which were leaking terribly.

I took the car to the service manager who I've had good dealings with in my prior visit, and he shook his head in disbelief. He of course stated those will be addressed, but he too seemed weiry as all we will be doing is replace a fautly part with something equally faulty.

He asked me to send him the pics and he will forward to the regional Audi rep for an official response from Audi NA on this issue.

Guys, I think we need to take action here. Let's start tracking the well documented issue, but in a formal way. Perhaps in a similar format as Sparhill's registry - keep a list of member here by VIN who have had the issue(and in many cases like mine a repeated issue). Sadly there are probably more RS4 owners that are non-members and don't roam this board, but I recon we have a good claim that the members here represent an unbiased sample and true representation by extrapolation of the 'real world'. I am willing to take the initiative, and if people want to send me their info, such as model yr, VIN, mileage, # of failures, front'rear failures, etc., I can start gathering the data.

Default My info....

Here's your first entry:

WUADU98E08N901817

Front two shocks failed around 9,500 but likely 1,000 miles earlier. Dealer has parts on order to fix. I sent an email to my service mgr offering to pay for Stasis SL's if AOA would cover the cost of the front end. He said that AOA will only allow then to install OEM parts under warranty but he sent my email up the chain anyway. I doubt they'll agree that in the long run it'll cost them less by doing it my way.

Default My info, too

VIN WUADU78E08N902485

First failure occurred prior to delivery of the new car (it failed pre-delivery inspection). Both front shocks replaced.

Second failure started at under 5K miles, most noticeable by around 6K with clunking. I checked and both front shocks were leaking. Both front shocks and both central valves replaced.

Third failure started as a light tapping that progressed to a loud clunking noise, far worse when cold. Shocks are dry. System was bled and given a "car is okay" on test drive.

Fourth failure was two days later with same loud clunking/thwacking noise at all four corners. Car is scheduled to go back in Tuesday with less than 8800 miles on it total.

what are the damages?
they seem to be fixing it for free...

there may not be enough owners for a class action

what would we 'win'? extended warranty?
that's all they have to give us...only make the system whole again...

the only folks that win in these things are the llawyers...we'll get a coupon, they will get millions...if the court agrees to pay them with Audis money, otherwise WE pay them...

trust me...I've looked into this for 2 BMW issues:
e46 m3 engine failures
e36/e46 rear subframe failures

I work with a bunch of lawyers, they all said it would be highly unlikely to prevail...especially if during the process Audi made a preemptive 'good faith' offer, ie, extended warranty, to remedy the situation...
