Any Rear Brake Caliper Upgrades?
Does anyone know of any upgrades to the RS4 rear brakes...
Can a Gallardo rear caliper be used on these cars?
I would love the look of a full BBK but dont want to spend the $ on an Alcon set up...

I just don't see the need unless you're going for looks or added weight...
I've gone through 5+ sets of front brake pads and 2 sets of front rotors, but still on the original set of rear brake pads and rotors with enough still remaining even with an additional 12k street miles on top the countless laps at the track. The car doesn't need any more rear braking even with fatter r-comp tires.
But I don't see why other VAG parts bin options wouldn't fit even with custom mounting brackets. Let us know what you find.

brakes 101......
Rear caliper upgrade is absolutely not needed (and can be harmful) on the RS4. Weight shifts forward under braking. With 56% of the weight over the front axle at baseline, and even more weight being shifted forward during braking, the brake force distribution to the rear needs to be very little.
For comparison, look at a Porsche 911 which uses equal sized calipers front and rear. This is because the rear location of the engine, under braking, leads to a near 50/50 front/rear overall weight distribution as weight shifts forward.
By over-braking the rear, you can actually make the car unstable during hard braking situations.

Don't upset the balance
Like Vijay and larryV have said, don't waste your time and money unless you're building a show car that won't be driven. Auto engineers are careful selecting correct front and rear brake combinations, then fine-tune with proportioning valves. More rear brake will make the car squat down in the back and screw up weight transfer to the front where 90% of your stopping power is at. If yoy MUST upgrade in the back, do the front too using a well-designed 4-wheel BBK.

I wanted them for looks, the braking power on the car is fine as is.
There isnt anything that could be installed that would offer the same braking dynamics with an improvement in looks??

actually only the S and Turbo have same size f&r
at least on the 996's. The Base carrera has smaller rear discs, but I believe they are still both 4 piston
