Planning my next undertaking- Stasis Motorsport with some light 19x9.5 forged wheels and 275/30/19 tires. Interestingly enough, this should give me 6mm more fender gap over the stock tires (good thing with the Stasis IMHO) as well as making the speedometer more accurate since the stock tires give a reading that overestimates speed by about 5%.

Looking at these wheels too to see if they can be had in my desired fitment. Forged with carbon fiber rim. The largest size is 23x11 and that weighs 26lbs. These should come in under 20lbs.

Default Unless you are tracking....go with the SLs....

in terms of rubbing...I just install the SLs...amazing difference. but yes..I notice a rub with the front left wheel on large bumps....I am going to further investigate this this weekend.

stock rims, 275 RE-01Rs..

I too am looking for a light weight set of rims. My thoughts are to undertake this next spring along with alcons.

The stasis though are worth every penny...

Default I would think you can do it if you get the offset perfect

John here has 265/30/19's on a S4....

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b7/msgs/67498.phtml</a

McGyver was...one of the tires wore down to the cords, IIRC.

Default Good luck with those wheels...

You'll need it. They are a joke compared to Dymag's and even those are still a long way from being as safe and reliable for daily street use.

Default RS4 is no longer a daily driver...that's the only reason I am considering modding to this degree....

Still, don't want to ****-up what appears to be a near $2k wheel. Who knows....I may end up doing nothing if my plans don't all come together.

Default That's not the point I was expressing...

I've seen, touched and analyzed the CEC wheel with the head engineer from Dymag. It's a very poor quality CF in material and build.

Over the past 4 years, I've learned a lot about the wheel industry, manufacturing techniques, materials and safety standards. These are my rules of thumb to go by and hopefully you can use them as well.

1. For a street car, daily driven or not, go with Aluminium. 6061-T6 is the most common high grade used in wheel applications (However we will soon be switching to a new Alloy with even higher strength for reduced weight). Magnesium wheels have a short useful life and have high rates of fatigue cracking during street use due to the inherent brittleness.

2. Purchase only from a company that certifies their products with JWL/VIA and/or TUV. I cannot stress this enough for safety and quality.

3. One Piece. Stronger and lighter. Less prone to air leaks. Provides a more taylor made wheel application - there is more than just widths and offset when it comes to wheels.

Default If you have time to wait for them, I'd suggest the Stasis wheels to go with their suspension.

and whatever tire they recommend. They have a forged 1-piece 19x9 wheel that weighs 20lbs...I would have bought these myself, but they needed a month to get them, and that would have meant being without my car for a month (2 of my OEM wheels were ruined in a cavernous pothole disaster). So I settled for the Neuspeeds, which are pretty close in design and specs, and were available immediately off-the-shelf.

I think you'll be less prone to having problems if you go with a full Stasis suspension/wheel/tire package...at the very least, they won't be able to point the blame to anyone if there is a problem.

Just my 2 cents.

Default Hey, were any of you guys aware that MTM now makes a forged version of the Bimoto wheels?

They weigh less than 20lbs in 19" size and, imo, the Bimoto is a great looking wheel for your cars. Just wanted to point that out...
