Default Anyonehere actually taken off teh window trim before?

I am going to have mine done in a couple weeks wehn i am traveling for work, and want to know if there is anyone here who has done it that has some insight? I hear they are riveted, screwed, will bend, etc. I would love to hear from someone who actually did the job so I am not basing my recommendations to the body shop on rumors.

Default I did this prior to the titanium package being available in the US.

The window aluminum trim does bend when being taken off. Several of the window pieces that were given back to me were bent.

link

Can I ask how much you were charged for the trim swap?

Default it was approximately around 1k, but I also had the mirrors painted black...

The trim piece kit also ran about $800.

Default alternative

i actually had a shop do mine originally...supposedly it was a huge pain in the ***....he underestimated the work involved so i got lucky

unfortunately he didnt prep one of the sides properly and the paint started flaking in one spot

so i took the ghetto route and fixed it myself with this (follow the link)

believe it or not it looks even better and its way more durable...you can do the whole thing yourself or you can take it to a tint shop since they have experience with stuff like this....just an option

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-Shadowline-Black-Trim-e36-e39-e46-e60-e82-e90-e92_W0QQitemZ160315273218QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors _Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item160315273218 &_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A64|66 %3

Default I haven't ordered it yet.

But probably will order in 2weeks, when I get back from California work trip. I am gonna be in Paadena week of 3/16 and Boston week of 3/23 so was hoping to get this window trim done then. My other trim (mirrors, summer wheels, grill and rear bumper piece) are all getting done this week while I am away. DRC gets replace March 2nd, 3rd.

The other thing I was thinking of doing soon was taking the car to Bay area in May, I need to be in Kuala Lumpur sometime then for a week, and getting the short shifter and exhaust done then. Would be a nice drive too from Washington.

Default they sell that stuff at pep boys for $2.95 a roll....it's called black-out tape.

that's what I used to cover my front bumper side reflectors.
