Brake Pad Question....
Is there a brake pad sensor that will come on if the pads get too low? I am going to the "magical place where they might be pushed a little hard" (edit for AudiNA) and was wondering if the pads get too low, will I get a warning so I can stop. I really wanted to get them swapped out this week but didnt have the time.
On average how long are they supposed to last?
Any ideas?

Yes, there are pad sensors.
At 15K my pads are still better then 1/2 the original thickness. Maybe we are going to the same Magical Place for driver education in NY in a couple of weeks? I suspect that at the end of the 2 days of driver education, I'll need to replace those pads.

At Road America last fall I brought my fronts down to 3mm. Not sure where they started
but the car had <5000 easy miles on it before then.
Maybe I need a faster line through the corners. But I would advise that you have an extra set with you to make sure you can drive home.

Yes there are. It'll depend on how hard you're using them
you should replace the brake fluid with higher temp stuff if you haven't done so already.
Current wear and type of happy place will also have an impact.

lol..the magical place in NY. If you press the RS 4 there, you won't need brakes..(edit)
you'll need parachute assist to slow your momentum. You can generate allot of speed on the 3.5 miles of "the magical place in NY".
Btw, I fried the OE pads on my little ole' S4 at that place last year on my second session around..
Take an xtra set of pads.

There is a sensor, but don't rely on it. The one on my old S4 didn't work at all...
I hadn't been paying attention to my pads and noticed one day that they were really low. I took off the old front pads and I was a little surprised to find that they were worn past the sensors. The warning light had never come on...
