Default Brake seizure after washing due to rust - aftermarket pads any help?

I'm guessing that the factory pads are seriously metallic and tend to rust really bad when wet. Perhaps some guys with aftermarket pads can chime in with their experiences. Looking for a low dust/low rust pad. Getting tired of the reving, clutch slipping, and the big CLUNK when backing out of the garage the morning after a wash.

Solution, go for a drive after you wash it

I could, but then I'd have to wash it again

Default it will get dirty as soon as you pull it out of the garage in the Am to drive

such is life. It's gonna get dirty.

Might as well never drive it then

Default I didn't have that problem with the OEM pads, but so far I'm liking the Porterfield R4S.

Porterfields use a carbon kevlar compound, so I would think rusting of the pad surface would not be an issue.

They've only been on for a couple of weeks, but I think the dust production has been cut in half, possibly 1/3, compared to stock. I think they have a bit more bite, especially when warm. At times, they are ever-so-slightly more noisy than stock, but in typical street driving their behavior is basically indistinguishable from the stock pads. I'd buy them again.

Default Just noticed this after my 1st wash. Next time I'm not gonna use the E brake

I'll just leave it in 1st gear overnight in the garage. Hopefully that will help and I won't get that clunk when I first pull it out in the morning.

Default Don't use the hand brake!

I'm sure we all have the same problem. My solution is to use tire chocks after a car wash and not the hand brake. I only have the rears brakes freezing so this actually works...but it is a big PITA.

I'm thinking of WD-40 on the rears and hoping for the best.

Default Really? That's it? Sounds too easy to be true.

How do you know that only the rears are causing the trouble?
