Default can anyone validate this info

I just thought this rumor was interesting. I am starting to have a little buyers remorse from waiting for my rs4 for so long, and if any of this info is true, I may consider pulling the plug from my order.

http://www.channel4.com/4car/feature/feature.jsp?id=156&page=2</a

Default Rumors may or may not be true, but Audi will always come up with a faster car...

... its just the natural progression of cars and marketting. There will always be something faster! It just keeps us working harder, right?

Default HOLY ****

"Audi A4 and S4
An all-new range, to include S4 with 5.5-litre V10 as seen in S6 (440bhp); an ultra-quick RS4 (550bhp) could follow."

I hate the rumor mill, but this would be pretty neat.

Default sounds like bull to me...

can barely fit the 4.2liter in there now. 550? no way.

some of their other info is wrong as well. and no mention of the RS6, which is a go now.

i wouldn't sweat this crap. they are likely just doing it to drive site traffic.

Default Does anyone remember a press release from Audi basically saying that

they were no longer going to be involved in an escalating horsepower war between themselves and BMW(implied)

Default I don't need all of the 420 HP the current RS has to offer, but I'm not going to cancel my order.

I guess there is quite a difference between wants and needs. If you need the 550 HP why not buy something with 600+HP. If the current RS meets or exceeds your needs, than like me you will be happy with the 420. I rode in one and I know it is far more than I need.

Default I remember it was mentioned in an interview...they said they were going to

go for lighter vehicles instead of bigger, and bigger engines. (IIRC)

Default No, that doesn't make sense..

It's one thing for Audi to come out with a faster car, but not a faster RS4 right after this one was released.

I think if they do this it will be lame.

I am also going to consider holding my order for my RS4 if this is true. Of course it will be difficult to know if this is true.

Default I said the same thing,

when I purchased my b7 S4 in 2005. 340 Hp was good enough. But with the having the RS4 released, I knew I had to have the newest and fastest member of the A4 line. If this change were to happen in three years, I could understand, but for the 2008 line?

Default Info on A4 B8 due in 2008...

The third-generation A4 should be similarly transformative when it debuts in early 2008. Revised powertrain packaging will allow the A4's longitudinally mounted engines to move four inches rearward, thanks to a more compact clutch and differential. The engine lineup will remain the same (with a bit more power): a 210-hp, 2.0-liter turbo four; a 265-hp, 3.2-liter V-6; and, in the S4, a 4.2-liter V-8 making 350 hp. Each will come with a choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed version of Audi's DSG transmission. The next A4 also gets a new four-link front suspension, a revised rear setup, and a 60 percent rear-biased torque split for the all-wheel-drive system. These changes, together with more equally balanced weight distribution, should make for markedly sportier handling.
