Car repair update. . . guidance, please
The body shop completed their work yesterday and delivered it to an Audi dealer for inspection. The car failed the front and rear alignment and suspension tests and they have indicated that it's a sub-frame issue. It may take a week to fix due to part ordering, etc.
Should I have any concerns (short or long-term)? Remember, despite my handle, I can barely change a light bulb. So, this frame vs. sub-frame is foreign to me.
With respect to the cosmetic repairs, the service guys indicated that the car looks really good, but I plan on driving there today to see for myself.
Thanks!
Mike

I think I would call the insurance adjuster.
make sure they're aware of it and see if they think the repairs are cost prohibitive (i.e. they may want to 'total' it). If not, let the body shop do their thing. It's good that they're sending it to an Audi dealer to check the repairs.

you have a bent frame, not good. aside from any new parts, the frame likely will need straightening, not so easy. from the damage to your car that i saw in the pics, i'm surprised. it looked to be just a qtr panel. were you hit or did you hit something...a barrier, curb, etc?
it's going to be a fine balance to get everything back to perfect spec, and you could have ongoing alignment/handling problems in the future. i hate to be a doomsayer on this, but it's all too common. good luck and here's hoping they can get it all right for you.

I though that Audi had regional body repair shops due to the aluminum on the A8's and RS4's.
Aluminum is tricky to repair correctly. Also, based on the photos of the damage it is hard to believe that the body is bent and that the alignment problem could easily have been caused by the impact without structural damage.

I was hit in two places. Here's the original post.

they did tell him subframe problem...it won't meet alignment. if it can't be aligned to spec, there is no other conclusion than a bent frame and/or suspension pieces in this case.
