Check the front page. The new supercharged S4 is good. The sport quattro rear diff is a great move

Default Want to understand why

To each his own but I really want to understand why some people are crazy about Avants. Is it for transporting something? A dog? I cannot see my self using it for my dog. He is a golden and way to hairy for my car--I have a CRV to drive him around.

Default Carries stuff, looks good, and

the look on some dude's face when you wax him in your station wagon...

I'd ditch my RS4 for and RS4 Avant in a heartbeat.

Oh yeah, also means not having to have a SUV, or a mini-SUV or anything of the sort.

Default I could see replacing the RS4, the minivan and maybe the 360 for an Avant

Hauling stuff is part of the answer. Little chance of seeing another is part of the answer. Leaving various ricers and others for dead in a station wagon is priceless!

Be curious to see how the new S4 driving experience compares overall to our RS4

Default Tough call. The S4 was much more enjoyable in the wet.

It has a more responsive chassis and weighs a few hundred pounds less. The rear differential makes the car more neutral than the RS4 too.

Torque? S4 wins again.

Visceral feeling? RS4, no contest. The S4 exhaust note is boring in comparison.

Interior? Toss up, I actually prefer the RS4...but not for any logical reason.

New price vs New price? S4 no contest.

CPO RS4 vs new S4 at same price? VERY tough call.

Ideal combination? S5 body, RS4 engine, S4 quattro system. Woot!
