So what is better, the RS4 3M kit or a custom installation?

Any sense in having the doors done too?

I mean, if it will protect from door scratches and dings, and the car looks that good long term, what's the downside to doing the doors as well?

Custom, definitely. The kits have too many seams.

Doors aren't worth it b/c they aren't really in the path of road debris....

all the areas I covered were areas where I've seen chips on B6/B7 A4/S4's. I did the A pillars this time b/c I didn't on my B6 S4 and I had some rock chips on those spots.
