Default close call..

Greetings RS4er's - I thought I would share a recent encounter:
Was heading east on hwy62/55 in mpls this eve when I spotted a dark silver RS4 coming down the on-ramp. I've seen exactly 2 here and was hoping to get a better look. He accelerated into traffic @ 1/4 mi behind me when my V1 lit up with laser alert - the airport cops, sheriff and hwy patrol have been squatting in an island median towards the airport exit and sure enough, he was firing laser at traffic coming down and around the slight bend. Mr. RS4 was obviously unaware because he accelerated hard as a gap opened in front of him. I could have let him blow by me but common courtesy and german family car cred/respect kicked in so I started tapping my brakes - he must have noticed and at the last second, threw out the anchor before the cop got a good read. He waved, I saluted - no ticket. Whoever you are with the RS4, do yourself a favor and get a V1.

Default That reminds me of last summer...

I was heading back to NYC from Pittsburgh on Rt 80 with the hammer down when a truck weaved slightly into the left lane (2-lane stretch). Sure enough, after I said WTF I saw the police cruiser on the side of the road in the breakdown lane (my LOS blocked by the semi).

That's great highway courtesy and awareness.

Default Nice man, wish you were there to save me!

So I definitely want to get the V1, I heard it's best to buy direct from Mike himself as opposed to ebay or second hand due to software updates. Is that what you did? Also was laser detection included or extra, and do you have laser jammers if so do you recommend. Lastly do you have the V1 exposed, I would love to have it stealth as in hidden in the dash as opposed to stuck to the windshield. Btw I'm from NJ, not even sure if they use laser here.

Default A few answers:

V1 has laser detection included, no extra charge. It does NOT have laser protection, though. There are plenty of good laser protection products out there: I use Lidatek.

As for a stealth install, I have my V1 installed beside/behind my rear view mirror (with the rear facing sensor peeking out to the right). I have a "LI-S4" remote display on my steering column with the mute button in the center console next to the ESP button.

This is what it looks like:
