Default Cross-post: MTM CF hood

You get a weight saving of 6.5 kg (14.3 lbs) for 4439.66 Euros ($5,685.43) plus VAT and shipping. Wow, that is expensive! Also, I am not a fan of the vents.

RS6.com Post

Default Plus you have to paint it. I'd rather have the speed limiter removed, but 800 euros seems a

little steep for a funtion I would only use a few times. Last I heard that may not be available in the USA (the limiter not the hood). The vents do have a bothersome look to me also.

PS: On exports you at least get a refund on the VAT.

more money too. I think like 300 or 400 euro

Default Just hope you don't get in a frontal crash w/ a CF hood! They don't deform on impact like OEM hoods.

I've read that the CF hoods will have a tendancy to shear off the subframe of the hood and can come through the windscreen like a guillotine. THe OEM steel or alum hoods deform in a way that protects the occupants and covers the windscreen by accordianing as it deforms, but the CF snaps and gets forced through. SCARY thought! Too risky for just a 14lb savings.

The aluminumm hoods in the RS4 are already pretty light. Cheaper/safer way to shave weight...get a light-weight battery for under $100 and save 44lbs!

I thought only the area back from headlights is painted, rest (center) left as CF.
