Default Dash Display/Radio Questions

Is there a way to choose your default dash display? I would like the above to show every time I start the car up, but is seems to sometimes go to another display mode.

Also - is there a way to turn the radio off (other than just muting which continues to play silently) and still have the nav or phone displays active?

Default You can shut off the Nav screen in the dash using a VAG and that should allow...

this screen to be the default, but then you won't have in dash Nav directions.

As for the radio: Hitting the mute doesn't keep music playing silently. It mutes and pauses...CD's, Phatbox, etc.

However, you can hold the power button down until the radio shuts off.

Default What's the other display mode?......

If your NAV is turning on when it's not supposed to there is a software update somewhere to correct. If you want to display the radio functions while the NAV is on..... just cycle through the MFD until you see what you want. I want to say my MFD usually displays the last mode I had it in before turning off the car.

Default I don't think there is - unless VAG-COM does it. You can ask on ;the B7 forum

more posters there

BTW I would like this option too

Default I think he's talking about the screen that shows the compass and street you are on when the Nav is..

not in use.

Come to think of it, if the RNS-E is off, that screen doesn't appear and the dash screen defaults to the temp/mpg screen.

Default When I hold the power button down it does turn off but...

When I hold the power button down it does turn off the radio along with the entire RNS-E display including the Nav and phone.

If I just mute it so that my nav display shows, the next time I start the car the radio is on again.

Default There is a software download to be able to turn the radio off....

and to get rid of the disclaimer on the NAV screen at startup. The files are somewhere, but I can't remember where I downloaded them from. The radio button becomes the on/off button by just holding it down.

Obviously, I have an 06, so your software may have the updated version. Maybe just try pushing and holding the volume button. After I downloaded the software, I just hold the volume button and after about a second the NAV turns completely off and the screen goes blank.
