Yes, gasoline direct injection has been around for about 8 years
With few manufacturers going into full production until the past 3 years. And there is an 8 year trail of research papers and patents on deposit formation and control in DI engines.

We do in Europe, guess we've got the necessary low sulfur fuel?
Make a big difference when it cuts in, you can see the instantaneous fuel consumption improve by as much as 10mpg.
