Default decisions, decisions ... looking for input

I am an incredibly lucky guy, but with good fortune always comes dilemnas. I own a 2001.5 S4 avant and a 2007 RS4 and have come to the conclusion that I really should only keep one car. The S4 has significant sentimental value, 100K miles and is owned free and clear and the RS4 is a wonderful car with 14K miles subject to a big lien. So, my question goes to the following: What are each of them likely to bring in the open market? How much is the RS4 likely to depreciate over the next 3 years and how would you make the choice of which one goes if you attempted to leave emotion out of the decision? TIA!

Default I have both also

I have come to the conclusion that keeping both, and making the stage 3 S4 a more dedicated track car, is the way to go. I love both, and would not get what they are worth selling.

Default "Pooch" is Mario, the wonder dog.

8 year old lab-shepard mix; the best dog I have ever known!

Default Well since I just sold my S4 avant & bought an RS4, my $0.02

My guess is that the RS4 will depreciate at about $1,000 per month and when it is 3 years old, it will be worth 35-40k. I base this assumption off of what happened to the RS6 and the lease residuals of the RS4.

I loved the utility of my Stg S4 avant but the constant maintenance issues was one of the main reasons I sold it. It had more power then the RS4 and was more exciting to hit the go pedal, but the RS4 is so complete & buttoned down, it is worth the extra monthly cost to me. On average I was spending $3000 per year in maintenance on the S4.

Default Recently I've been seeing the 07s selling for around the low 50s...

I guestimate an 07 RS4 will be in low 30s in the next 3 years. At least that's what I'm hoping. You should be able to get around 10-11k for that B5.

Default I don't even know that dog and i love it! Put both cars up for sale at a high price and see what

one get the bites. Let the market make the decision for you. I'm sure that if you got to sell the RS, you'll end up taking a baths so just list it for a high price and see what happens.

Default easy answer...

keep the S4, drop the rs4 when you can. the absolute depreciation of the S4 will be much less.
