Default The end is near ... 1 way or another (longish)

In the 3 months or so I have had my car, I have brought it in now 5x for the EPC light/loss of power > 6500 rpm. Now it is in 1 week and an A of A Field Tech Specialist or something like that is flying in to Philly to Don Rosen to look at it on Thursday. I have all the documentation to lemon it out with A of A nicely or with an attorney ... this is it (fixed or lemon).

I am jumping ahead, but I am really not optimistic they will fix it (I hope I am wrong)and it will be lemoned. If they fix it great, if not the car will be gone, but what should I get?? I waited 3 + months for this and this is exactly what I wanted. Quite honestly I don't know if there are any other sprint blues out there with no miles. I broke my car in by the book and am not enamored of buying a car some one just bought and flipped and probably didn't care about , nor want to go through a possible service fiasco like this again. I really have a bad taste in my mouth for Audi right now (this is my 4th audi in 10 yrs!) and my 02 A4 had a lot of problems too as it was the first yr of the b6 - I chalked it up to that and never buy a first yr model again.

Maybe a Cayman ? or just buy a used exotic? when I did get the RS4, I got another Daily driver, so can use that during week.

What a pain in the ***, I am really frustrated. The dealer personnel have been great and supportive. Even Audi of America has been attentive.

I think they just overengineered this car in Germany and maybe should have put in a bigger displacemnet engine to wring out more horses than all this intake manifold, flaps, sensors, chips, computers talking to one another stuff.

Default Mine was doing the same thing. It was the vacuum assembly that changes the intake runners...

from low speed RPM to high RPM. Took about 4 hour to fix once they had the part (4 days). I did have to take it back because when they re-installed the front grill it looked like Botox gone bad with a 3/4 inch droop under the center of the hood. Motor feels stronger than ever now, there may have been some borderline malfunction of the unit before it failed completely.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Default That's too bad...

wish you had a better experience with your new RS4.

I have to agree with you on your point re "overengineering". 420 HP out of an N/A 4.2 liter engine is stretching it, as evidenced by high redline to achieve the power rating and the need to drive it at very high revs to realize that power. There are better ways to go. I can only wonder if the new M3 will suffer from excessive RPM issues as well. They'd be much better off with robust turbo V6's, IMO.

Good luck in your decision and with AoA. There are many other excellent cars out there that you could consider as a replacement, if necessary...including near future Audis.

Default Sorry to hear about your problems. I've got an appointment with the same Audi tech...

Apparently he covers the whole Northeast region. I'm taking my RS4 back for the 7th time in 6 months and after 3 sets of OEM struts and now a new set of StaSis SL struts. 2 different dealers can't figure out why the front suspension rattles and I've been more than patient. I'm also trying to figure out what to buy next. On paper, this is the perfect car for me. In reality, it's been the most frustrating vehicle I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of cars.

Default I am at DR right now and visited with your car>>>>

Seriously, my RS4 is getting regular service (5k) and was talking the the techs about your car. If it makes your feel any better I had a similar issue with my suspension. Took four tries and flying in a tech from Boston but they got it fixed. My fingers are crossed for you.

Default What was your symptoms?

I am having some hesitation between 2000-3000 rpm as you lightly roll on the throttle, also colds starts sound a bit rough. a few weeks back I got a code for left intake butterfly being stuck. I cleared it and it has not given a light, but still has the symptoms. Under full throttle there is no power loss.
