Default EPC (Electronic Power control) light came on today during driving. Anyone know what it means?

I looked in the manual and it's fairly brief as it just says take the car to the dealership.

It will have tripped a fault code for something. Drop by the dealer if you don't have a VAG-COM

I have a VAG-COM, but it's at home. I'll check it tonight.

Default When this happened to me...

It was related to the intake motor which is supposed to open up at higher RPMS. There was a vacuum leak in one of the vacuum tubes which was causing this. I think there is a TSB on this.

Default It's a malfunction of the electronic throttle system...

...your Throttle Position Sensor (TP)/Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor is throwing a fault (via ECM) that the throttle valve (controlled by Throttle Drive) may not be functioning to specification.

If you have/use VAG-COM check the engone control module DTC memory. Otherwise, take it easy & bring to a dealer for diagnosis.

It's not just throttle related. It can also be a problem with the intake manifold valves.

I think I've heard of it happening because of a bad MAF too

Default That happened to me when the device that changes from low to hi speed runners in the

intake manifold failed. The tech found it as soon as the car was put on the computer. My car also fell on its face at 5,500 rpm's. Like the manual says, take it to the dealer.
