Default European Car Magazine - Feb 09 issue has MTM RS4 and RS6 coverage

Just read through the article in the latest (Feb 09) EC magazine had on the MTM RS6 Avant and RS4 sedan. A little sceptical of the numbers, not so much performance wise, but for example:

1. Weight has been reduced by 200kg (or over 400 lbs). Somewhat doubtful since the rear seat delete is countered by the same increase in weight by virtue of roll cage. Sure, Bimoto wheels are lighter, and perhaps the Brembos, but I don't see how one get's to 200kg reduction considering the S/C and related hardware adds weight.

2. What's more incredible, is the 0-60. Claimed at 3.7 secs. The article prior talks about a Novitec Rosso S/C'ed F430 Scuderia with 517hp making it to 3.4 secs. The RS6 was at 4.4 secs from what I recall with 520hp (and granted a lot more weight).

Anyhow, good read, but I am sceptical of the numbers posted...

Default The weight is not that hard to believe..

I lost 250 lbs just from light weight wheels, 5 lb battery (stock weighed in at 60), seats and exhaust.

Default Yeah, but...

250 lbs is 113kg, well short of their claim when you consider they added metal roll cage and S/C hardware and cooler add weight (as well as wider tires)...

What's more unbelieveable is the 3.7secs 0-60 figure. Put that relative to the blown Novitec Rosso Scuderia F430 at 3.4!

Default 3.7 s is believeable, even if the car weighs the same as ours.

think about it: +100hp to get a hair more than half a second quicker to 60? no problem!

A blown F430 still has RWD, otherwise it would probably be a few tenths quicker.

Default BTW, what ever happened to the 2 people on the 'wait list' from JHM?

A buddy of mine works for John Holtz who was listed as the installer for the second guy on the list. His RS4 was shipped down South to JHM but came back to the dealership...without the S/C.

Apprently the John Holtz techs didn't want to touch the install...

That's surprising. What do each weigh?

Default Right when I read it i was not buying the 200kg loss. They stated something like it was not ...

anything special to get rid of the the first 200kg, but they added a SC, heavier wheels, and a roll cage. I did not read that it had carbon body panels or anything
