Default First day of ownership.....first problem.....

First of all, the car is everything I had anticipated it would be. Now, on to the issue.

When I pulled into my driveway for the first time, my tire pressure monitor warning signal began flashing.

I checked the tire pressure and everything was good. I did the reset for the TPMS and the light is still on. Here's the confounding factor however:

The wheels/tires on the car are a complete second set of stock wheels with Dunlop WInter Sport 3D tires, and my stock wheels/tires are in my garage. Could the TPMS in the car be detecting more than 4 tires? How far away do I have to be from the unmounted wheels/tires? Anyone else have TPMS issues with their winter set-ups?

Thanks.

Maybe they didn't put $240 worth of TPMS sensors in the winter wheels?

Default Do you have a belkin 54g router in your home? Or perhaps a 5.4ghz cordless phone?

I'm 110.9% certain there must be some interference.

Perhaps set the router's network password to "TPMS" and check again?

(bwahha, i'm a relative newb here, so I'd figure i'd put in the "j/k" smile but imagine if that stuff did interfere; that would be hilarious.)

Default If that doesn't work...

the car may be sensing a low pressure area in your head. Try sitting someone smarter behind the wheel.

Sorry, what psi are you running? Winters are run at a lower pressure. The TPMS might not like it.

Default Thought about that first but......

The tpms didn't activate for the first 40 miles I was driving the car around after taking delivery. turned on when I came near my house. I'll have to drive away, reset again and see what happens.

Default Could be several things

1) If your tire pressure is equal all around but too low, TPMS could go off. Some on the Q7 board reported the alarm below 35 lbs pressure.

2) Tech Bulletin 06-08, Satelliter Radio ... Interfrence with Tire Pressure Monitoring System or Audi Nav Plus.

This would have been fixed on your car, but it could be there result of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). It's possible that a radio source close by could be screwing with the TPMS scan. It does work at 2.4 GHz, just like wireless phones and wireless routers.

As another point of reference I have TPMS on my my mounted snow tires and on my summer tires that are stored just 8-10 ft away from the car, in a space in the ceiling, with no problems at all.

Symptoms are wrong. The Belkin 54g router makes the TPMS think there's 54psi in the tires
