A friend of mine owns a MB Tuning shop and says that he has Renntech Software for the beast that
will give me 40 horses for 2500 bucks. Any truth to this because he is convincing. Might have to make him dyno it, chip it, dyno it again and see the results. What do you guys think?

Re: Is it a money-back guaranteed 40 hp?
even if it was, how exactly do you accurately measure that advertised gain? a dyno, especially if theirs, can't provide that. it just can't give you a hands down, verifiable HP number.

Good points
If they are really confident though, I would imagine that they would put the car on the dyno, do a run, swap the chip, and take another run 10 minutes later. If they can "guarantee" 40 hp, the car should be ready to go immediately after chip installation. You would have to use some wheel to crank conversion factor, but that should not be too big of a deal when you are talking about a 40 hp gain.
I didn't say it before, but I hoped people would read between the lines and realize that I think the claim is bull****. 40 hp chip only is a lot for this engine.

Re: Good points
well, that may be true.
but there was some info/links i provided awhile back that raises considerable doubt about individual dyno results. such as: the machine itself, the software, manipulation of the software(results), proper calibration, proper technician operation, and then the big variable(atmospheric conditions)....oh, and the condition of the car. can't forget that.
agree, read between the lines. there's a lot of unscrupulous stuff out there, and money being the motivator.
