Sure sure, I should have been paying more attention to the brake wear... but my rotors were a disaster after driving home metal-on-metal! The new set of OEM pads and rotors (which I got a GREAT deal on) *do* have wear sensors and I'm thrilled. Previously, the wear sensor was bypassed. (thanks Audi...)

Default They are supposed to have wear sensors aren't they......

If they didn't and you runied your rotors, shouldn't the rotors be replaced for free?

Default you can usually see pad remaining through wheel...

if not, it's a good time when rotating tires to check pad amount remaining. don't forget inside pad.

It should say in the manual if we have them.

I'm probably not going to even bring it up with them, to be honest, now that it's fixed.

Default This is what the manual says...

Sorry for the crappy pic, I didn't have my camera with me so a photo copy/scan was the best I could do.

The symbol they are referring to looks like this:

Default Right from Bentley

13 - Brake pads
With wear indicator
Thickness 11.4 mm without backing plate
Wear limit: 7 mm including backing plate
When wear limit is reached (limit: 2 to 3 mm), a warning light comes on in instrument cluster
Checking thickness 803 Work sequences; Front and rear brake pads/linings; Checking thickness
Always replace both sides
Removing and installing Brake pads, removing and installing

Your car was supposed to come from the factory with wear indicators on the pads. Mine did, and my service tech was nice enough to move them over to my Ferodo DS2500 pads when I had them changed.

Since your car was incorrectly fitted with bypassed pads, you are not at fault, and Audi should refund you for the cost of the Rotors and labor.

Quick Reply: FYI: My original stock brake pads did NOT have wear sensors. Just replaced them, new ones do!
