I know 10K is not a scheduled maintenance per audi, but I wonder with the oil consumption and just being overly cautious if I should do it anyways.
Being a new owner I have not been able to catch up on all the reading on this forum in regards to best practices and this crazy engine.
thanks

How long do you plan on keeping your car?
If you're leasing for 2 or 3 years, or are going to sell it and buy a new car 2 or 3 years from now, who cares? If there are any engine problems, Audi will take care of it.
If you're planning on keeping your car longer than the warranty period, and you are using Audi 502.00 approved oil, then I'd recommend changing oil at 1/3 the factory interval (3K to 3.5K miles.)
If you really love your car, you'll do periodic oil analysis and let that guide when you perform oil changes.

of course, I can both hear it and feel it.
It starts at about 4.5k, and the last several hundred miles until the oil change it is quite obvious to me that there is a difference between newly changed oil and oil that has been used for 5k.

Yep ... you can definitely hear the difference in engine noise and
definitely monitor the difference in engine temperature, especially with just how thrashed the oil gets in our engines.
