Default Help me decide: Used RS4, New M3, New 09 A4

So, I've got a 2001 2.8 A4 that while a great car has seen better days and I need a little more driving excitment. I live in the northeast so quattro is really nice in the winter, but I am also in a big city so automatic is kind of where its at. So, I have found a nice used, low mileage 07 RS4 at a dealer for 59K, or I could buy a new M3 with the DCT for around 65, or I could get a new loaded 09 A4. I really wanted a new B4 S4 or an S5 but both of those will take forever.

Default You're all over the map in terms of power output...250ish hp to 420 is quite a difference.

Are you limited to sedans? Try the S5 if not - seems to be a good balance of what it seems you need (luxury, nice interior, sporty ride, at least some power)

Default RS4. You can't compare an A4 to an RS4. I have a Highly Modded B7 A4 and no matter how much money i

have put into it, it still doesn't compare to the RS4. Not even a little. RS4 is an amazing car, if you have the opportunity to own it down pass it up. Also i find the RS4 a very easy manual to drive so i wouldn't worry about it.

You can edit your original post and fix the typo...

Default Well if you want quattro with an auto, why not get a low mileage S4?

Obviously ultimate power isn't important to you (since you're considering an A4), so the S4 seems to be the best compromise here. A B7 S4 would be big step up from the '01, 2.8 you're driving now and you can trade it in for the B8 S4 when that comes out. Probably get a nice '07 for ~42k.

The perfect car for you would appear to be a tiptronic B7 S4
