Default Help me diagnose a strange sqeak.....

coming from the left rear of the car. I heard it while driving through my parking garage today. I can re-create it by pushing down on the left rear fender, it's fairly loud. I have the H-sport sways and i'm thinking that maybe its a bushing but all this DRC talk has me wondering that maybe there is something else wrong. Anyone one have anything similar happen to them?

Default i had the same problem before on a 2006 S4. very irritating

turned out that the rear shock piston rod needed lubrication. as it travelled through the piston ring(rubber), it was causing vibration/squeaking.
get some silicone spray and try to get under the plastic cover, should solve it.

There may be a foreign object lodged in tire (e.g., nail)

Default DRC wouldn't do it if you can recreate it like that I agree a

bushing may be shot. DRC in that area of the car sounds like a rattle of a loose battery cover in the trunk, or the folding seats or a door panel not secured correctly.

Default If the sways came with poly bushings, you found your problem.

They're notorious for squeaking. The early ones were horrible but they're getting better. All the ones I've installed came with some incredibly viscious, sticky grease that you must coat everything with. Trouble is, it eventually wears off. That's when the squeak sets in. Some have built-in zerk grease fittings on the bracket so you don't have to dissassemble it to regrease when it starts squeaking. This is why automotive OEM uses rubber bushings, they're nice and quiet, but not as rigid.

You mean leaking DRC shocks aren't self lubricating?

Default They are H-Sports, not sure what bushings they have...

but that makes sense, it takes only a fraction of an inch of compression to replicate the noise. A bound bushing would account for that.

Hope they have a fitting for re-lubing. It's driving me nuts.
