Default Help pick a new car for my wife...

My wife is coming from a MB CLK500 and now wants 4 doors, but I can't talk her into an Audi...like an A6 or S6. She is torn between another MB, the CLS550 or a BMW 550i. She would do the M5, but it's too stiff for her and more power than she really needs. I also tried to lean her towards either the MB C63 or the M3 4-dr, but they are too small for her. So either the CLS or the 550i.

Default C pillar of the CLS angles sharply. If you have real people sitting back there now and then

they will need to duck around the pillar or hit their head. Limits the view too. Pretty fashion statement though.

As for the BM, I just can't get past the appearance. BTW, does she want to futz with all the 'lectronics, or is she going to make you the interface?

I read somewhere that Audi attracts males moreso than BMW and especially Mercedes.

Audi attracts engineering types more than the other brands mentioned. Not many female engineers;-)

putting personal preference aside, the 550 will be more comfy and have much more space than CLS

Default 550i

I am not impressed with Mercedes build quality. If you don't go AMG and at least get a great motor, Mercedes has little to offer.

Default Go 550i. CLS is only big outside, but is actually more like a C-class/3-series inside...

Ever look at a Jaguar XF? Sharp looking ride but then again, it's a Jaguar and probably comes with baggage. And not sure if you have a budget but a Maserati Quattroporte drives real sweet!

Default 550i, in addition to what others have said i would think it's more pleasant to drive

and I suspect you'll be driving it once in a while.
