Default how do you keep the RS4 clean? (faux-poll)

my reply: A2... yours might be C1, B3, etc...

A) i wash it myself every X weeks
B) i take it to the dealer every X weeks
C) i take it to a detail shop every X weeks
D) other (describe?)

i know this topic's been discussed before, but i'm curious as to what people are doing these days and what kind of care they consider best for the B7 RS4. i'm a newish owner, so other pointers appreciated too.

Default A-1

And the wheels come off at least once a month to be cleaned and check for that DRC issue - so far so good/bad depending on your point of view

Default I have a great system

I wash my car with deionized water at a local .25 cent car wash...drive it home about a mile, letting it mostly air dry. I do NOT use a towel to dry the car EVER.

Soak up excess water with micro fiber. Takes about 10 minutes total.

Clean wheels with Simple Green (while wheels are hot)

Wipe tires with rag to wipe off crud, add tire dressing.

Then, I spray Motul Silicone or NoTouch tire dressing into front/rear plastic grille work...looks like new.

The whole process takes about 20 minutes and I don't get my hands dirty.

Once a month, I wax using Meguiar's Gold Clas...put on with a orbital, taken off with microfiber. I can do that process in 20 minutes.

Once a year, I have a detailer come and hit with a more abrasive compound.

DISCLAIMER: I worked and trained at Meguiar's back in 2003. My technique uses stolen short cuts learned from some of the laziest (read: efficient) car care people in the world.

Default A-.5 to 1

Depends on the atmospheric dust levels! Or bug content in the air in fornt of my car.

Of course teh weather has turned in teh northwest adn its becoming futile, so I will probably back it off to A2.

Default Step #1. Boil gobstoppers until they dissolve - they contain carnuba wax.

Step #2. Let cool slightly and apply over all the painted surfaces.

Step #3. Invite over a bunch of neighbourhood kids.

Step #4. Let nature take it's course.

Step #5. Enjoy a carnuba finish polished and licked clean:-D

Drive it to dry it, let it pick up dust/grit, wipe with microfiber cloth = fine scratches
