Default HSport RS4 35mm and 29mm Swaybar photos and review...

The HSport 29mm rear bar arrived in the mail today safely packed and with all hardware and an instruction booklet. The only thing it didnt include this time was the blue loctite sample that came with previous HSport bars that had been tried.

The bar purchased was the HSport 29mm RS4 Sport Rear Swaybar -- Item# 22832R

These bars are available from www.purems.com for $219.95 at the time of this writing.

It should be noted that HSport recommends this bar be paired with their front 35mm bar and as such this bar can be purchased as part of a kit using Item# 22832 and also available at www.purems.com for $399.85

Installation took 30 minutes. It requires you simply unbolt the rear most exhaust hangers and allow the exhaust system to hang freely to give more room. Then simply unbolt the 4 bolts holding on the brackets and the 2 end link bolts. Install the new bar. Done.

This bar was installed on a 2004 Audi S4 that was equipped with the OEM front 30mm swaybar and an aftermarket HSport 24mm rear bar set to full stiff. That setup provided relatively neutral handling with adequate turn-in.

The OEM 30mm bar was removed and a Front HSport 35mm bar was installed. In conjunction the Rear RS4 Hsport 29mm bar was installed and set to full stiff.

Luckily, it is a rainy day today and the opportunity arose to test the car in both slippery and then semi-dry conditions. The vehicle feels considerably more stable through turns with the primary noticeable improvement being the more immediate and accurate turn-in along with neutral stance throughout the turn. This combination is a great upgrade for the money. Needless to say, the results were highly pleasing.

cheers! Mike

Default Difference HSport, H&R and Hotchkis sway bars?

Anyone?

Was doing autocross for my first time last weekend, was good fun but feel that there is sure improvements that can be had, believe this is a good one!

Was also thinking about possible a H&R lowering springs, inputs pros/cons are welcome!

Default Nice write up Mike. Wet weather is perfect for testing the new bars!

What material is the new bars' bushings made of and was lube necessary?

Default Thanks bud. They are poly and it comes with some of the stickiest...

long lasting silicone lube I have ever seen. YOu'll see what I am talking about when you try and get it off your hands They, of course, also come with all new brackets with Zerk fittings.

Default Poly bushings, new brackets w/ zerks, a pouch of that nasty lube - all the good stuff!

I'd order and install H&R springs today if I knew how to deal with draining the fluid out of the system.

Default S4 rear = 20mm, RS4 =22mm ...

I believe the fronts are the same diameter but double check me on that. THe front install is just as easy. Two brackets and the end links. Just be sure to install them with the suspension under load, such as on ramps and not jackstands and everything lines up.
