Default I'm back from FL (long and bww)......

I left NY (JFK) at 6:35am and got to FL (FLL) at 9:10am Saturday morning. Got to the dealer at around 10:30am and there was my RS4 and Justin (salesman) waiting for me.

I took some pictures, went in did some paper work, covered the car with plastic sticky stuff and was on my way. Before I headed to I95 I had lunch with my parents who were in FL for the weekend.

Now for the drive. I followed the break in recommendation everyone suggested, DR. GP's WOT 3 times a day, and what the manual suggests. For the first 600 miles it's suggested not to exceed 5000 rpm and I did just that other then the two WOT at 250 miles and 500 miles.

I hit 1000 miles on the car right as I got to the Chesapeake Bridge and Tunnel, so I couldn't really get on it until after I got of of VA. But that sound in the tunnel was music to my ears (and everyones following me) I hit the S button while in the tunnels just to see the difference and it's very noticable. After I got out of VA the car was at a new level, not completely broken in, but much more responsive and much much faster. For those who have test drove one and thought that it doesn't feel much faster then a S4 you have to drive on after it gets to this point in the break in. By the time I got home the car had 1390 miles on it and I've never enjoyed a drive more.

Coming from a B6 S4 with all the options listed below in my sig, I wasn't sure if there would be a big difference other then look and some more HP, but was I wrong. This car is a beast, it does everything better then my S4 could ever do. Even if a S/C can make the S4 faster then a RS4, it can never come close to the RS4's handling and overall kick assness. This car is more solid, more confident, more everything then my S4. The interior touches are perfect, black trim around the speedo and VDO, carbon fiber, and some type of trim on the side view mirrors was a nice surprise.

On the trip I averaged 80mph until I hit Virgina and was very surprised to see the gas mileage I was getting. The car is very capable of getting 300 miles to the tank mostly highway with some city driving. I got 282 miles on my 2nd to last tank and that was with sitting in 2 hours of traffic and the VDO said I had 25 miles until empty.

If the car feels like this at 1400 miles I can't wait to see what it's like at 5000. However, I will be taking it slow and won't hit that for a few months.

The only issue I have with the car is that my V710 doesn't pair properly with the Bluetooth. I can make and recieve calls, but it can't download my phonebook and the button on the steering wheel doesn't work.

Here are some pics of the car throughout the trip.

When I first saw the car at The Collection in FL:

This is right after I finished wrapping the car up before I heading out:

This was in SC somewhere when the white stuff starting coming off the car from air getting under it and lifting. So, I took it off and my wife and I coevered the bumper with painters tape before we got back on the road.

Default glad to hear you made it safely, and congrats!

BTW my manual says 6000rpm limit for the first 600 miles, not 5000rpm.

you must have gotten some strange looks with the car all taped up like that!

Yes I did get some strange looks. Is that a RS4 Special Edition getting tested? ;-)

Default Dealer messed up my order and I couldn't wait. I later found out that Biener Audi had a PB for....

sale, but my S4 was already in FL.

Default I knew someway you would get your car. No paint chips, I hope?

It seerms to me that all Audi engines must be built tight. It will take at least to 5k until the engine really starts to loosen up. Were you waiting for a KABOOM when you took it to the redline for the first time?
