Important Info regarding DRC parts...
I had a chance to spend some time with a source at a dealer on the parts for the DRC system. Here is some good info you guys should arm yourselves with when going in to get yours replaced.
All RS4's were shipped to the US with one part numbers installed.
8E0 412 019
8E0 412 020
There is another set of original part numbers in the parts system, these are:
8E0 412 019a
8E0 412 020a
The difference between these is that the first set of numbers are for all RS4's, including convertibles. The second set of numbers with the "a" extension are listed as "heavy duty". No RS4 cars were shipped to the US with these, and there is no apparant option to order a car with these from the sales dept. He and I have no idea what these are for or where they came from. Maybe the RS6?
Next piece of info, the new improved DRC also comes in 2 designations:
8E0 412 019b
8E0 412 020b
8E0 412 019c
8E0 412 020c
The stock ones on our RS4's (no alpha designation) are only interchangeable with the new "b" series, and is improved redesigned seals. The heavy duty "a" series parts, which according to my source were never shipped to the US on RS4's, are only interchangeable with the new "c" series.
So the info from here is that
8E0 412 019 [upgrades to] 8E0 412-019b
8E0 412 020 [upgrades to] 8E0 412-020b
Chassis type 2MC is all RS4's, not just sedans. My source at the dealer didn't find out what 2ME was, but is not somethign an RS4 owner needs to worry about.
So when you go in, make sure you get the "b" release for you cars! Hopefully this solves the leaks. My dealer is ordering the "b" version for me, if he can locate. He hasn't started looking as of a couple hours ago.
Thanks to RS Maniac and Papaya for starting the discussion and providing some extra information to investigate!
I should make that my new Login ID: 8E0 412 019b

Re: Important Info regarding DRC parts...
So even if it's a late production 2008 it would still not have the corrected part? Why the heck not? Audi should have known of the issue by then!
I was considering purchasing one of these, but after reading of all the problems I'm very hesitant.

it'll give me an excuse to drive the S4
and I was being sarcastic, kind of. I was serious about it being awesome (good info)... not looking forward to dealing with my local dealer, however. Miramar is garbage. I'll probably work with Hoehn or Escondido.
