Default Laser ambush on way home from Hartford GTG..Lpp saved my A$$ again

Some of you guys asked about it tonight, and I stated I was 5-0. Tonight, on the way home from Hartford to Providence. Route 2 east to 395 North to route 6. I pick up someone in an A6 4.2 and we are cruising at about 95 along 395 just north of Norwich. After a call from the wife, who is now home asking where I am, I step it up and am cruising at just over 100.

It is about 9pm, and I crest a hill and my x50 and LPP go nuts at the same time. I keep the x50 low on the dash. I slam the brakes very hard as I know it is laser and I am doing somewhere over 100.....even got a chirp out of the front left wheel, but a very controlled very fast deceleration to 65-70... I flip off the LPP....a second later the x50 stops chirping..I am about 300 feet from the cop at and cruise right on by him sitting under a bridge in pitch black cover.

Some of you guys asked about it tonight. I have two modules up front with no plate. That makes 6-0 against laser for me, this time the only one over 100mph. By far the toughest test for the LPP, and it was awesome.

you can check some vids of the LPP in action at

I have the Escort SRX. Yesterday it jammed the laser while I was going 80 in a 55, gave me enough time to slow down and saved my tush big time...

Default What does it look like to the cop? Nothing shows up on the gun? Do cops ever get pissed

and just pull you over to be a pain in the *** knowing that you were probably speeding (laser jammed, RS4, do the math) and just try to give you a hard time?

Just wondering, I would imagine it would be obvious, and although they can't do anything about it legally that has never stopped cops from being a PITA. (some not all)

Default I think it looks like the gun is having difficulty locking on...

which could be from a number of factors.

Default From 1500-2000 feet away it may hard to judge speed........

The cop has to aimthe gun through a scope, almost like looking through the scope of a rifle. I think this takes away from the ability to judge speed as well. Some guns get an error code...some just do not get a reading. That is why it is important to slow down and turn the jammer off so they get a reading. I have no front plate, and I am surprised that the cops do not get a little ticked and pull me over for that violation . Last night was pitch dark, an empty road except myself and the A6 about 50 yards behind me.

THe interceptor is suppose to be great, but other than the prototype used in the testing, I don't know where to purchase teh kit. I think the new escort is suppose to be pretty good also. In many of those tests you get Jam to Gun, which is not what you really need. You just need a few seconds to slow down. So many of the devices will do. The are some videos on the site that show the actual jamming, or you can go to you tube and punch in LPP, Lidatek etc....

Default So the cop was sitting under a bridge in pitch black cover ?

Sounds highly dangerous and possibly illegal. I have heard that cops are not allowed to do that...

Default Yup.very sneaky...I use to think laser could not be used at night..but turns out....

the range of laser goes up at night...there's got to be a physicist here that can explain it...

He was siting off the right shoulder under a bridge, and I could not see him until I was very close. Impossible to see at night. I was hit as soon as I crested the hill, as I am sure he was aiming at my lights.....I hit the brakes hard, and was caught by the seatbelt..I could not get the belt to release to so that I coule lean forward, reach under the dash and flip the jammer off for a few extra seconds, and he kept on lasering me. Until about a second or two after I flipped off teh jammer...

The jammer alerts with a loud rapidfire bee[p, as well as the LED flashing red....Both the x50 and the LPP lit up at the same time....At the distance I was hit, I am guessing about a 6-8 foot wide laser width...there is a program that will calculate it for you on radardetector.net if you are interested...

In my area...CT state troopers use a lot of laser. VT state troopers along I 91 and I 89 is also way up, as well as is Maine(do a lot of skiing)...RI state troopers are Ka band exclusively in my experience, while the local cops seem to be a mix of k and ka band....

Friggin' laser. It's not fair. I got pinched about a month ago in New York, near Binghamton. the Escort went wild, but it was too late. Instant On Laser, and I was dead meat. Didn't even have a chance to get on the brakes.
