M5 "kill" story
Well, I think it was an M5.
I just got back from a 600 mile trip to and from Chicago. On the way back I passed what I think was a debadged M5. It had the BMW logo on the hood but all the badging was gone from the back. It was a 5-series-sized four door Bangle sedan with quad exhausts.
The two of us drove normally through slower traffic for 20 minutes. He then took a more aggressive posture and kept pulling tight up against my bumper as we worked our way through the cars on the highway. I took that as a sign to play and hit the gas when we reached clear road. He responded and clearly was trying to keep up but slowly slipped two, then three, then four car lengths behind as we hit about 110mph. The gap was getting wider and I started to slow down to let him catch up.
I know the M5 should easily keep up with the RS4 so maybe that guy wasn't trying his hardest. But he was clearly "sort of" trying, and failing. Does that count as a kill story?
He tried the same maneuver (pulling up right on my bumper) five minutes later so I down-shifted and let 'er rip again. I have just left the break-in period so this was my most wild ride in the RS4 yet. Modesty prohibits me from telling what speed I hit before I let up on the gas but the M5 was way, way behind me. I didn't see him again. He hadn't even tried to keep up that time so I won't count that as a kill. :-)

just took both the RS4 and M5 to the track on monday for some back-to-back runs...
the M5 is clearly faster on the straights. It would start reeling in a 996TT deep into the straight but when I'm in the RS4, the same 996TT would pull away. There's no way an RS4 can take an M5 in a straight line especially once you approach triple digits. More details on my track day later...
But yeah, that counts as a kill. Nice work!
