More engine speculation..could be a repost....
I'll be in the hunt for something new next spring, but as of yet nothing launched does it for me. Not the new M3, not the new Nissan. I'd love to see the RS5 in the next 18months...that I would certainly wait for.....

http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Audi_News/article_4182.shtml</a

yeah, it tells me nothing.
the problem is the author is making assumptions based on the allegation that Audi won't use a completely "new" motor for the next RS4/5. But that doesn't mean they have to use the S4 3.0 TFSI as a starting point either, as the author assumes.
it wouldn't surprise me at all if the RS4/5 isn't even imported to the US. did you see pricing just released for the Panamera? $127K USD for the base V6 model. unless the exchange rate changes drastically over the next year or so, the RS5 might be a $100K car! would anyone buy it at that price? I know I wouldn't.

Well, he comes around...
to admitting that it probably won't be a V6, in a roundabout way.
What I found curious is the stmt that the 4.0 V8 turbo wouldn't fit in the B8. Must be a width issue(turbo components), but I'm sure they could fit it with some design tweaking.
I really can't see the exchange rate keeping these cars out of the US...maybe in less numbers(due to less potential sales), but they're not likely to abandon this market altogether...IMO.

oh, and make no mistake that...
all this speculation about which engine it will use is being fed by Audi to the automotive press who unwittingly(or otherwise) act as information pimps. This is all part of the game, the cat and mouse of competition.

Bob, you can't take a European MSRP price and convert it to USD and expect any relationship to the
US MSRP.
If you convert the German RS4 price to USD you get something ugly like $120k-$140k.
