Default My new Daytona RS4

After a 10 month wait, it's finally here. I picked up my Daytona/black/CF/premium RS4 today. I'm as thrilled with it as everyone else here. I'm trading up from a TT so the boost in power is quite impressive. The car accelerates so smoothly and eagerly, I almost doubt my speedometer. "Am I really going that fast??" It seems to jump to 100-110mph on the highway with basically no thought.

The car handles beautifully, too, but my TT was already incredible in that area. I've already noticed the back end has a slight urge to come unstuck on the bendies, something the TT would never do. I need to get used to that but I enjoy the challenge.

Finally, the experience of driving is wonderful all around. I love the technical doo-dads, like the Bluetooth telephone system, XM satellite, navigation, etc. And it's a much nicer ride than my TT, which delights my wife.

I gather the car's too heavy, it's not as fast as a Z06, it will get beat in the 1/4 mile by the M5, and the A8L is classier. But I'm a very happy camper. I think you will be, too, if you place an order. :-)

Default Yeah, actually...

It's funny. I picked up my car last Monday and left on a 5 day trip on Tuesday. Obviously I was thinking about my car a lot during the trip, and the picture in mind had a car that was slightly green looking. I was actually surprised how grey the car looked today, when I had a mental image of a kind of olive/grey. I think it catches the greenish hue in low light or something.

Default I think it's just the pearl effect reflecting any surrounding greenery.

I noticed the same thing in my Avus silver when I was parked next to some big shrubs.

I'm curious about your comment that it gets a bit unstuck on the bendies.. How fast were you going when this happened?

Do you think this is the result of the 60/40 split? I never have had this happen in my B7S4, so I'm wondering if this is the added sportiness factor that the RS4 is touting.

Man, that almost looks like Dolphin gray in that light. Anyway, a beautiful example of an RS4, to be sure. Major congrats!

Excuse my ignorance Bob, but is Daytona and Avus pearl paint? I thought they were both non pearl. TIA.
