Default New RS4 owner w/pics and a question about a aftermartket exhaust

I've been asking around for the best aftermarket exhaust for my 2008 rs4.. so far GMG, MTM, and Milltek are the top responses.. i was leaning more on the GMG, but not sure yet..

im lookin for that deep throaty sound from partial throttle to WOT.. loud but not crazy loud, if that makes any sense. something where when im even just cruising i can still hear the v8 power

Default very happy with GMG....

although i can picture some people thinking its too loud (below 3k rpm it can get very bass-y)....i think the Tubi might even be louder...not sure if the Magnaflow is louder but im not a big fan of the quad tips

you might want a resonated milltek

either way, any choice you make will be more aggressive than stock

Default Milltek non-res w/downpipes is wearing thin on me, sounds fantastic but...

boomy below 2k, loud startup from cold. Will probably get the resonator section soon.
I don't see the benefit of the extra $1k for the one with the flaps though, doesn't sound like that would suit you either.

I agree with havabooz, I thought mine was a little loud below 3k RPM at first. Now that I have had it for a month there is no way I would go back. Love It! The appearance is more agressive too, IMHO....

Default Tubi

Have been to a bunch of GTG's and heard many times that my Tubi is one of the best Exhaust they ever heard. When I got my RS4 I started looking at exhausts and did a lot searching online, Found that Tubi had one for the RS4 and was interested because had one on my Maserati and loved it. Then found this video done by a member here and ordered same day. Still puts a huge smile on face every time I start car up

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A39nzC9fkmg&feature=related</a

Can you describe what your friend does not like about the GMG system. I have the GMG and I believe the build quality and finish is better than the Milltek. Alot of Millteks have some rust on the systems including weld spots. I do not see this on the GMG as the finish is polished on the complete system. As far as sound is concerned this is very subjective, I found the GMG to have a deep tuned sound with with very little drone under 3k. I believe the Tubi system is the best in build quality and I find the exhaust note near perfect, the only downside is Tubi costs twice as much as the GMG. So for the money GMG gives you alot of value in their systems I do not take anything away from the Milltek just do not like the build quality and finish. If money is no object then yes Tubi all the way.

Default An additional two cents - Milltek non-res cat-back......

I did the non-resonated, valved Milltek and kept the factory down pipes and cats. A great combo that gets the nice low end and good tone during acceleration, cruising and WOT, but isn't as loud as the setup with the full down pipes. I went without the resonator to offset the factory down pipes and cats.

I'm very happy with it...

I haven't heard any the exhausts in person, but the GMG seems to have the deepest, non- raspy sound

Default You will get too many opinions on this to be able to make any meaningful decision

First decide how much you can spend. If price is no object and you are okay with quad tips, there is no substitute for MTM.
