Default Nice article on Audi in Fortune today. Stadler seems to have his eye on the prize all right.

It's interesting that Porsche's likely takeover of the VAG is cited as a major challenge to the Audi brand and is even mentioned first; ahead of the Green Laws and China's eventual entry into the luxury car market.

Oh yeah, Ford is mentioned too. They suck.

Ford does suck right now, but the new Lincoln MKS hits the mark, quite nicely. it will be interesting if sales follow suit...prying people away from Lexus, Infinity... Audi, BMW.

AWD is available, the platform is Volvo S80 based and they have a killer twin turbo 3.7 V6 at 415 HP and 400 torque in the works.

I hope they do pull it off. The S80 isn't a bad starting point.

Default Hope Porsche doesn't take over, VAG, futhermore, I thought VAG much larger than Porsche?

That's odd, VAG, is huge, I would have thought VAG would takeover Porsche not the other way around.

VAG,

has under it's marquee,
Volkswagon
Skoda
Bentley
Audi
Lamborghini
Bhugatti,

and I know several other Brands I'm forgetting, I'm pretty confident VAG dwarfs, Porsche, to me it would be the equivalent of Ferrari taking over Ford, although Ferrari is much smaller than Porsche. But, you guys, get the point, I really hope Porsche doesn't take over VAG, Audi is on to something, let them keep doing what they are doing. I wouldn't want Porsche to mess with that model. You know, if I wanted a Porsche I would buy a porsche, I don't want my Audi to become one.

Default they are capable of building good cars...

witness the Ford GT, Shelby GT 500, and even the Lincoln LS, based on a Ford of Europe design and a very nice, capable car. if only they would get their head out of the sand!

did you check out the link and those photos of the new MKS? interior is very Audi-esque, IMO.

Default it's about ownership %

smaller companies often aquire larger ones that are hurting.

i think Porsche taking over VAG may be their(VAG's) salvation. would you rather it be some India or China company, or some equity company like with Chrysler? times are a-changin.

Default At first blush, the MKS is a nice package, interior too. Price points seem

pretty good, starting at $38K. If the turbo V6 handles at all, they may get some good ink.

It's critical the NA V6 be reliable to appeal to the masses. Only then can the reputation start building again.

In production terms, yes. 324,000 VAG employees vs 12,000 Porsche.

Default the twin turbo V6 will be offered with a sport performance pkg...

so it sounds like they will be doing that version right.

the V6 is a Duratec design, enlarged version of the 3.5 Duratec v6...which has been widely acclaimed for power and efficiencey and also very reliable.

one thing Ford and GM can still do right is engines, V6 and V8. no one has anything on them there.
