Now I know what you guys are all raving about (kind of long)
On Saturday afternoon, I went to my Audi dealer to see if a small problem with my B6 S4 could be solved.
My salesman came outside and I asked him about the RS4. I jokingly asked if I could drive one. He returned with the key and dealer plate and told me to enjoy the ride.
My 18-year-old daughter was with me and we looked at each other and got into the car. I felt giddy and somewhat nervous. Since I haven't driven a stick for quite a while.
The hardest part for me was pulling out into traffic and learning the shift points. I was trying to drive like I knew what I was doing. Once I figured it all out (about 2 minutes) I began to see the car for what it is, a monster.
The acceleration and handling are unbelievable. In traffic, it is docile and unobtrusive, but tip the throttle and you get a feeling for the depth of this car. The seats are much more comfortable than mine, the suspension is not as "stiff" but I felt much more in control than in my S4. The song that comes from the engine and exhaust are hypnotizing. I never experienced the sound system or navi because I couldn't figure out how to turn it on...
It was hard to part with it, but my S4 lease does not expire for about another 9 months or so, and I'd take a bath on the S4. So for now I will have to keep that black on black beauty in mind, and try to twist my salesman's arm rather hard.
