Default OT: paging parikh1234 - Got a few questions for you..

I've been thinking for awhile about gettting a tuner car to play around with on weekends, maybe a couple of track days now and then and I think I'm going to go look at the new EVO and STI. I'm prob more set on the EVO and since you just ordered one, maybe you can help jumpstart my knowledge of these cars..

1) Good place to get parts for the GSR; found a few online but no real one stop shop.

2) Good forum to learn more about the GSR - I cant seem to find a good one..

3) Mod potential.. whats the best way say to get 75HP streetable in bolt on mods? I'm thinking exhaust, intercooler, intercooler pipe, Air intake, ??. What about boost?? Ignorant in that area. Can more be had very easily..?

4) Seems like a "reasonably" lightweight platform; is there any easy weight reduction to be had?

Thanks so much in advance for getting me started in the right direction on this.

Default if you want to mod an evo for track use and such, get the IX or VIII, not the X....

no one has really done anything super reliable with the X yet. To answer your questions:

1) I dont know anyone who can truly say they have "reliable" parts, its such a new car with new components.

2) I hang on evolutionm.net all the time. I have the same screen name: Parikh1234

3) For 75hp, you can do chip, exhaust, and intake and you'll get that number. Also there is alot of weight reduction in the X since it was made to be a more "comfortable" car.

4) See above.

Hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you need anything else. I have a great connection at my mitsu dealer who actually races a couple evos in clubs and circuits.

Default Thanks parikh..

I really appreciate that!

Yea I found evolutionm.net shortly after my post and that's a great site; already have learned so much about the EVO and new X.

Looks like that kind of a HP increase is pretty easy. I saw there are a few shops already getting almost 400WHP with bolt on parts.

What I esp like is the car is already great handling right out the box, just needs some added go.

Just curious, what made you go with the EVO X over STI? The new STI doesn't have the trick susp/AWD but to its favor it is 3400lb and has a relatively bigger displacement motor + a better MT and I'm assuming it can be tuned up pretty good. Just wondering..

Default the X is much slower than the IX a chipped MT6 A4 2.0T can out beat an Evo X in the qtr, but the Evo

pulls 1g on the skid pad.

Default FWIW, the X is faster around a track then the VIII and IX.

Chasis was a good upgrade. Even though it still added weight.

Either way, he's looking for a track toy... not a time attack killer.

Default 400whp on 93 octane is attainable on the stock turbo.

At the very LEAST. Get it tuned with a turbo back exhaust. Suspension as well.

Won't be hard to get custome tuned either.
