outdated design
when driving a new car you always look at it, give it a smile, and wonder when the day will come that your car will look 'old'...well maybe only i do that....and i dont mean old, like not-taking-care-of-the-car old...i just mean, compared to other cars on the road
well my sisters just got the A5, which is beautiful btw...and when it sits next to my car its so apparent how quickly design evolves from year to year
that said..i love my car dearly..and am happy to be home again to drive it
'need' new tires though (after 16k) and im gonna consider getting some sway bars as well because i dont like when its obvious to passengers that im driving like a nut...amazing how body roll makes ppl feel so uncomfortable

After I saw the S5 and R8 together a few months ago...
I realized that the B7 platform was going to look like yesterday's news sooner rather than later. The new platforms are just so sexy. Add in the new cars from the other manufacturers and you realize time will quickly pass us by.
Taking our wheels as an example: they look great but when you look at some of the wheels from the 90's, you realize how much things have changed. Our fabulous wheels will probably look outdated in a few years.
I love the RS4 and think that it may be one of those designs that looks good even after the next couple of generations are out. I think the B5 platform still looks good. Not so much for the B6 platform. I can't wait to see the D4 A8 as it should be loaded with technology and luxury.

I don't think it looks outdated yet. For me, it lasts for at least two generations.
After which point it starts looking a tad yesterday-ish. Like the e36 M3.
But I am grateful I go easy on myself in this area. It certainly helps my budget. But for some reason I keep thinking about the ...

Depends a lot on the particular car.......
The E46 M3, for example, still looks good to me. I still like the look of the B6 4 series. A B5 platform basic A4 is looking dated, but a nicely modded B5 S4 still looks fresh to my eyes. The previous gen RS6 still looks good. The RS4 will look good for a while due to its aggressive styling. Just maintain it well. While I do love the stock wheels, there is a good chance that in a couple of years, I'll change them just to refresh the look of the car.
It is also an inevitable fact that styles change and evolve. If you have the means and the desire, you can always change your car out every 2-3 years. I have made the personal decision to only buy cars with cash, so for me, I could do that with a $40k car, not with a $75k car, however.

I bet you could for 75k if you *wanted*.. but there's no point as this car is still hella dope!
Speaking of which, I gotta go to Safeway now. And I'm going to the far one. Actually, there's nothing I wanna buy per se but man I just need an excuse to drive. It's a great day outside in the Bay Area.

Peter Schreyer designed many Audis, including the B6. He and team won a number of industrial
design awards that had nothing to do with cars specifically. Alfa designer Walter DeSilva headed the B7 update as after many years at Audi, Schreyer has moved to Kia.
To me, Peter's designs have sometimes looked a bit dull, pudgy or clumsy in static print ads, but the actual cars themselves look great when in motion, going down the street. That is a design quality not all designers understand (Bangle).
