Passenger seat air-bag light?

Passenger seat air-bag light?
Should my "passenger seat air-bag off" light be on? I have not had anyone in the passenger seat, yet. Does the air-bag only enable when someone is sitting in the seat? Any help would be appreciated. BTW, just passed 400 miles. THis car is absolutely amazing!!

I hate that effing light! Wish there was some way of coding it off on VAG.
breaks up the harmony of the all red glow of the dash instruments. or maybe I can get the euro part number for a dead button to replace it with... or replace the led with a red one.
and to answer your question, that light will ON if there is no adult passenger on the seat, or at least someone that weighs like an adult.
