Pics and info from Waterfest

This was my second trip to Waterfest. The last was in 2002 with the debut of APR's stage 3 for the B5 S4. This year's event seemed a bit more tame and less crowded than my last outing, and that was nicer. Weather was perfect too. All told, there were 7 RS4's at the show, not including the Stratmosphere car which wasn't actually "in" the show but was present in the parking lot. My car was in the Audiworld booth along with an S4, TT and Allroad. It was a nice clean, tasteful collection of cars spanning the Audi range. Just Right.
There were a few debut products. Of interest here was the world debut of the AWE B7 RS4 exhaust. The pics are below so check them out. Release date is anticipated for about 1 month from now after final tweaking and testing. The prototype had a resonator and no valving. To my ears, the sound was just about perfect. I also got to hear a Milltek full, valved, non-resonated system. It is by no means obtrusively loud, but you can defintely hear it all the time. Sounds PHENOMENAL under hard throttle, but it may be a little hard to take on longer trips. My personal feeling is that the resonated, non-valved version is the way to go with Milltek. Alternatively, with sport mode off, this version was much quiter than with it on. Basically, the difference with S on/off is much more dramatic than stock.
So how does the Milltek compare to AWE.... Both sound great, just different. The Milltek is a bit more raw in it's non-resonated version, but the AWE is definitely more exotic sounding. It will be a matter of personal preference. Also AWE has quad tips. They are beefy, and solid looking. These look much nicer than Magnaflow which was on the REVO RS4. Sorry, but the Magnaflow system just looks tinny and cheap compared to the AWE or the Milltek. Likewise, compared to either of the other two systems, the sound is just not as "upscale" (for lack of a better term).
Also debuting were a line of wheels from Stratmosphere called Flashpoint. Very nice clean design. I don't want to steal their thunder so I won't say more but they are NICE. I talked at length with Pete about production of a 19x9.5 forged wheel fitment for the RS4 to accomodate a 275 tire. They will look into it. They need a run of about 40 sets of wheels to make it work.
Anyway, I could go on, but this post has gotten too long already.

Look at my first post....
Sound is beautiful. Very exotic. Slightly higher pitched than Milltek. It is definitely a sound and a look befitting the RS4. The tips are a matter of preference. These look very nice. Interesting that AWE, Magnaflow, MTM have all gone with Quad tips. No final power data released at present.
