Default PPI R8 Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel fitment

Based on the recent thread on carbon fiber shift **** and e-brake handle I came upon the PPI R8 Razor cf steering wheel.

Tried to look for any thoughts on it and came up with one post a year ago but no results :\

Wondering if anyone has tried it since then?
It retains the US controls too.

If not, I have just emailed them about fitments and prices (also inquiring on the shift ****, e-brake handle, and cf diffuser). We'll see.

https://forums.audiworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/86338.phtml</a

Default According to a contact at quattro GmbH they won't make and sell a CF steering wheel

They were going to do one for the R8 but the CF would deteriorate due to the sun and wouldn't be released after all. Apparently the steering wheel has to be produced using a different method than other CF pieces and that was the reason for long term deterioration.

I have seen a picture of a Gallardo with a flat bottomed steering wheel where the bottom was CF, but not the main wheel itself.

Personally I feel that a steering wheel should be made of a material that helps your grip on it. A smooth hard surface may look cool to some, but when you're driving hard and your hands slip, that can be a real problem.

Default I see, I don't know if my thread was misleading ...

I was referring to the product by PPI Designs that has already been released.

But the deterioration of cf piece is interesting, is clearcoat the answer to prevent this for exterior pieces?

Also, I am wondering how of a long term the deterioration would be as there are other components such as the interior trim that is already cf (albeit they are not as exposed to the sun as the steering wheel?). If it is longer than a couple of years I still see it viable.

I like the look and the fact we don't give up the US controls. Let us know what you discover.

It costs around 3200 USD and you need to send in the OEM R8 wheels as a core

Default You'll keep the US controls, but that wheel isn't as thick as the Euro RS4, plus the CF doesn't....

match the RS4 CF. The thread they use is smaller then the RS4's.
