Put deposit down on Daytona Gray on black (premium package) RS4 this weekend.
Someone passed and it became available. I'd been dithering for months and didn't have the courage to order one. Please tell me I'm not making a mistake! There are a lot of great performance cars in this price range but this one just seems to make the most sense (if I'm not already insane), especially here where there is snow for five months.
Anyone know what size winter tire Audi recommends on 18" wheels? Is it 225/40 or 225/45 (or 235/40 or 235/45)? Thanks.

Congratulations...you won't regret it
Dude...don't get buyer's remorse....look at my signature...I've owned a $hitload of cars and I LOVE my RS4. I considered an E55, an M5, and many others.
When I factored in reliability, warranty, performance, resale value, exclusivity, handling, style, interior style etc., there was no better choice.
You'll love it.

I don't *believe* Audi recommends a winter tire size. However......
If you want to go with 18", do 255/40/18 on an 18x8.5" wheel. Some of us are getting a second set of stock rims and staying with 255/35/19 winter tires. Unless you regularly plan on driving through deep snow, it's really the tread and temperature properties that matter the most......And you won't be sacrificing much dry/wet performance for the 95% of the time there actually isn't any accumulated snow on the roadway. Going with 225's is really going to hinder your overall traction in terms of handling and power control. Also, for 5 months out of the year, your car won't look nearly as good with those weeny 225's hiding under those deep fender wells.
Really.... think about the actual number of times you are going to be driving this car, with it's already advanced all wheel drive, in a situation where 225's will make a real difference over 255 snow tires. Probably never.

The wait is going to be worth it. I LOVE my B7 RS4. It has ...
