Default A quarter second of fear

We've only had about eight inches of snow here in Michigan this year, and we're getting it about one inch at a time. We got another dusting tonight. As I was turning left at an intersection, the back end came around, and the RS4 started sliding into the adjacent lane. But the ESP came on, the car shuddered a little, and all was well again.

I have the 19" OEM wheels with M3s, so not the most snow friendly. But the car behaved as it was supposed to. :-)

Default Actually, You must have more money than brains.

No offense intended. Just trying to make a point. You spend $70+K on a fantastic car and you don't realise the danger that you put yourself and others in by driving the RS4 in the snow with 19" summer tires.(a 1/4 inch of snow can make the roads extremely slippery) Not to mention the EXTREMELY high risk of damaging the car in an accident. DO NOT DRIVE ANY CAR IN SNOW WITHOUT THE PROPER TIRES. I don't care if it has 6 wheel drive. PLUS summer tires have about the traction of a hockey puck in temps under 40 degrees. You are lucky. And don't count on the car "behaving like it is supposed to do" next time because it won't. I guess you didn't see the post a few weeks ago with pictures of the RS4 driven off the road into the woods by the owners wife IN THE SNOW. GET some proper winter tires if you are going to drive the car in the winter in Michigan. I guess it might be somewhat balmy there in Jan/Feb.(END OF RANT)

Default Sorry, MY bad , I guess you have brains and money as well!.

I would still be carefull driving even with a small accumulation. It seems that even with winter tires and AWD, the potential to lose control is still there.

Default what you described...

i woouldn't call normal, or quattro doing its job...on a mild left turn like that??? i'm willing to bet there was ice under that snow, that would contribute.

Default It's okay, Doctor

Yeah, that was sort of the point of the post. Even in a little snow (or especially in a little snow), you can still get a bit sideways pretty easily, even with AWD. But I was happy with the assistance the RS4 gave to straighten me out.
