Default A Question for the Board...

I've been looking seriously now at the RS4 for about 4 months. With the current incentives plus A4 "pull ahead" cash, it seems like a great time to buy a new 08, right? But as I start to visit some dealers here in So Cal, I realize that most of the RS4's in inventory have just been sitting around baking in the sun and enduring the elements day in and day out for at least 9 months. Not to mention numerous test drives and movement around the lot (and in the case of this car, abuse from the gardeners blower).

So here's the question: Do you think it's better to buy one of these aged units from a dealer, or maybe a 1 or 2 year old RS4 with 10-12K miles that has been garaged and meticulously cared for by the previous owner? I'm not so sure anymore after what I'm seeing at the dealers...

Just make sure of the in-service date so you don't get robbed on warranty

Default lot. It's still a new car, so you can still expect it to be perfect.

it still shouldn't have any scratches or wear.

Default I thought about this myself, but after careful inspection..all looks good.

Although my car sat on the lot for at least 3+ months (actually on the roof of the dealer), it still had all the plastic/cardboard protective shipping materials in place, and there are no scratches or scuff marks that I can see.

And never take delivery of a car at night, especially if you're worried about paint/dings.
